This course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Nursery and School staff dealing with Foundation Stage.
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the delegate, there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years.

Maths intervention package for vulnerable children

This course will:
• Day 1 (27 Jan) – provide training for senior leaders about how mathematics intervention can be most effectively led and managed in schools and the features of successful intervention. From this day, each school will be asked to identify a group of vulnerable learners who will be targeted through maths intervention
• Day 2 (24 Feb) – this day will provide training and support for the class teacher and a teaching assistant working with the children targeted for the intervention. The focus will be on effective teaching and learning strategies for children struggling with mathematics
• School support (to be arranged) – between days 2 and 3, schools will begin the intervention and receive one half day in-school support from an accredited Numbers Count Teacher, specialising in early maths and intervention, who has been part of the Every Child Counts Programme. The aim of this visit will be to provide practical support for the TA or teacher delivering the intervention
• Day 3 (27 April) – Wider Impact: a follow up session - Teachers and/or senior leaders will review and evaluate the impact of the intervention and consider the next steps for developing this further across the school
